Comparison
Looking for a Sesame alternative?
Sesame Communications publishes that it sells patient communications software with automated appointment and financial reminders, two-way text messaging and online bill pay, alongside responsive-design websites, SEO, social media, pay-per-click advertising and profile management.
Sesame and any Sesame marks belong to their owner and are used on this page only to identify the company being compared. Sesame is not affiliated with Hey32, has not reviewed or endorsed this page, and nothing here is a statement made by them. Everything described about Sesame is taken from their own public website. Checked against sesamecommunications.com, 31 August 2026. If any of it is out of date or wrong, write to hey@hey32.com and we will correct it.
The honest difference
Where Hey32 and Sesame actually differ.
On their own description, Sesame is a patient communications and marketing company: reminders, messaging, bill pay, a website and the advertising that lands on it. That is a real category and they have been in it a long time.
Hey32 is a different shape. It covers the website and the marketing too, and then keeps going into the part of the practice a communications tool does not reach: chairside treatment planning, the presentation the family reads, the agreement they sign, the instalment plan that collects, and a branded patient app carrying the treatment journey. One relationship instead of a website vendor plus a treatment-acceptance tool plus a payments provider.
If reminders and a website are all a practice needs, it does not need Hey32. If starts are being lost between the consultation and the contract, reminders are not the tool for it.
Side by side
What to compare, and what to ask.
The left column is what Hey32 does, which is ours to state. The right column is deliberately a question rather than an answer, because Sesame does not publish everything a practice needs to know and we will not invent it.
| What to compare | Hey32 | Ask Sesame |
|---|---|---|
| Published pricing | Yes. Launch fee and monthly plan are on the pricing page in NZD, AUD and CAD. | Sesame directs enquiries to Request Info or a phone number. Ask for the total annual cost in writing, including every processing and transaction line. |
| Seeing it before you talk to anyone | The whole product is walkable online. No demo call required. | Ask whether you can walk the product yourself before a sales conversation. |
| Treatment planning | Chairside, with the plan, the dentist's letter and the portal presentation written as the clinician taps findings. | Ask whether treatment planning and case presentation are included, or a separate purchase. |
| Payment plans | In-house instalments by direct debit, split agreements, failed-payment alerts, processing at cost. | Ask who runs instalments, what the collection rail costs, and whether any fee scales with your collections. |
| Patient app | A branded patient app on the family's home screen, no app store download, carrying the treatment journey. | Ask what the patient actually installs or logs into, and whose brand is on it. |
| Contract length | Six-month runway after launch, then sixty days' notice, no termination fee. | Ask the minimum term, the renewal terms and the notice period required to leave. |
| What you own | Website, domain, brand and data are yours and are handed over in working order on exit. | Ask who the domain registrant is, and what you receive if you leave. |
Every entry in the right-hand column is a question to put to Sesame, not a claim about them. Where they publish an answer we have said so and dated it; where they do not, we have left it as a question rather than guessing.
Questions
Sesame and Hey32: what practices ask
What is a good alternative to Sesame for an orthodontic practice?
It depends on what you are trying to fix. If you want reminders and a website run for you, several companies do that well, Sesame among them. If the problem is that starts are lost between the consultation and the signed agreement, you want a platform that covers treatment presentation, agreements and payment plans as well as the website. Hey32 was built for the second case.
Can we move our orthodontic website off Sesame without losing our rankings?
Yes, if the migration is done properly: keep the domain, map a permanent redirect from every old URL to its new equivalent, carry the content depth across, and connect the existing Business Profile and analytics history. Confirm first that you own the domain and can export your content. Our guide on changing website companies walks through the whole sequence.
How much does Hey32 cost compared with Sesame?
Hey32 publishes its pricing: a launch fee and a flat monthly plan per clinic, in your own currency, with everything included and no percentage of collections. Sesame does not publish pricing publicly, so the only honest comparison is the one you make with a written quote from them in front of you.
See it yourself.
No demo calls, no sales deck. Walk the whole patient journey in an example brand, then start online when you're ready.
